1919 HERRESHOFF 27' 6" for Sale in Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Swallow offers the rare opportunity to own a Herreshoff classic .The  S-Class is highly regarded as one of the most beautiful one-designs ever built They are  instantly recognizable classic with it’s spoon bow, Herreshoff cabin trunk, and sharply curved mast carrying a large Marconi mainsail and 5/8ths self-tending jib.  

Swallow was built in 1919 which makes her one of the first boats of her class built. In 1986 she received a Major refit which was done by Frank McCaffery of Narragansett Shipwrights and Jim Titus of Mt. Hope Boat works.

She was raced and cruised in New England for many years by a very experienced yachtsman who again maintained her with a no expense spared budget.

In the fall of 2019 she was purchased  by Joe Loughborough of LMI who was instrumental in the restoration of the world famous yachts  Santana and Dorade. LMI have just recently finished a multi year refit on Kirawan. It is fair to say she has been looked after by some of the finest shipwrights in the country.

 

She is ready for the 2021 season with gleaming freshly painted top side and fresh varnish .She is in truly outstanding condition and comes with  2018 Doyle sails used a hand full of times. Included in the sale is a custom built double axle boatyard trailer.
