1999 WEST BAY 58' for Sale in Palmetto, Florida

This 1999 58 Son Ship by West Bay is currently owned by a seasoned cruiser who has outfitted Wavos Rancheros for extended cruising while at the same time being completely self sufficient! The list of upgrades and maintenance performed on this vessel are unlike and more extensive than anything you will have seen on any other similar vessel.

For those not familiar with Son Ship, their parent company, West Bay, is renowned world wide for their high quality, robust super yacht offerings The same attention to detail and overbuilt systems are evident everywhere you look on this boat. Please read on for all the intimate details!

As you board this vessel from the very wide, soft teak clad swim platform, you will notice hand holds in all the places you would need them to accommodate safe boarding and disembarking. You will also see two pop up cleats that can be used to secure the tender while in use. There are also two 50 AMP shore power cords that are easily controlled by the Glendinning Cable Master systems, eliminating lifting and struggling with heavy shore power cords. Both of these 75' cords were recently replaced.

Up two steps from the swim platform brings you into the very spacious aft deck area. There is a locking solid fiberglass door to help eliminate unplanned swim adventures while at sea! This area has approximately 4' of freeboard from the sole to the top of the gunnels, creating a safe space for pets or small children. Also located in the cockpit area is a large propane grill in a covered locker as well as a small refrigerator, allowing easy access to a cold beverage without tracking through the salon with wet or sandy feet. There is also a port side docking station concealed behind a cover to make docking and departure easy for the Captain and crew! Combination stairs and a ladder also provide access to the flybridge area. The aft deck is also protected from weather with the flybridge providing an overhang to 50% of the area. The deck in this area is also covered in soft teak to add traction and also cushion your feet.

Up two more stairs from the cockpit area and moving forward, you will come to two opening doors into the salon area. The ability to open one or two doors, based on need, eliminates the normal concern about "how do I get the refrigerator out when it breaks, or how do we replace the furniture without the use of power tools??!!"

Once in the large, bright salon area, you will see a very large U shaped sofa to port, easily seating 6 adults. There is also large high/low table conveniently located in front of the sofa. On the starboard side of this area, you will find two new leather barrel chairs, separated by a large table. Immediately forward on the starboard side, located in a wood finished locker, is the U-Line ice maker. Right next this this and forward, is a storage locker for TV electronics, games, etc. Next to this, and again, inside a wood finished locker, is storage for bottles and glassware. The top of this area holds the 35" Visio smart TV and sound bar. In the aft, starboard corner of the salon is the master AC/DC breaker panel. While you are seated here, you will also notice that you have a wonderful view of the surrounding area through the expansive windows, when the custom wood mini-slat blinds are open. Windows are also located at eye level, eliminating the need to strain or stand to get a view of the outside world! This area is also heated and cooled by its own, dedicated HVAC system.

Up three steps will take you to the galley/lower helm area. You will also notice a transition from carpet to a teak and holly sole, making clean ups a simple task. Located to starboard is a  4 person dinette with newly replaced cushions and back rest. Under the large Corian table top there is also a base with a built in locker. Additionally there is storage in drawers under the seating area. The galley area, directly to port from the dinette, is a chefs dream! There are matching Corian counter tops, ample storage in surrounding upper and lower cabinets. The chef also gets to share in the view as this area is also surrounded with 270 degrees of windows. Appliances include a 4 burner electric Ceran glass cook top, a full size Whirlpool oven, a Broan trash compactor, full size GE side by side refrigerator with both ice and water dispenser, a double bowl stainless steel sing with Corian covers, a Toshiba microwave oven, and last but certainly not least, a Frigidaire dishwasher!!

Directly in from of the galley is the lower helm station. This is sure to bring a smile to any Captain's face as he surveys his command station! Electronics include three 16" Furuno Navnet Touch Screen MFD's, a new Furuno autopilot control, a smaller independent Furuno MFD, as well as three other smaller Furuno displays for the digital compass, sonar and speed/depth/temp readings. Communication is via an Icom VHF radio, there is also an upgraded Wesmar digital control system for the stabilizers, controls for the Hynautic trim tabs, controls for the Wesmar hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, a Gemini compass, complete analog gauges for the twin CAT 3406 engines as well as twin CAT digital displays, propulsion is controlled by the single lever Kobelt digital shift/throttle controls, for greatly increased ease of docking/departure, this vessel is also equipped with a wireless Yacht Controller!! Night time navigation is made more easier and safe with the ACR 1000 spot light and the Sionyx night vision camera. This camera is integrated into the ship's WiFi system so it can be displayed on any smart TV, IPad or MFD. On the starboard side of the command console are the controls and gauges for the twin 20KW Northern Lights generators. This generator system also has an auto start Magnum control that will automatically start a generator to charge the batteries when they reach a programmable voltage level. This will leave you with never having to deal with a dead battery bank! There is also a tank level monitoring system to easily keep track of all fuel/water levels. For monitoring bilge activity, there are separate bilge pump counters showing the number of cycles on each pump, Comfort during long voyages is ensured with the fully adjustable Stidd helm seat! There is also a Samsung TV for entertainment. This part of the vessel also has its own HVAC system and controls.

Moving forward and down as set of generous stairs to starboard of the helm station will lead you to the companionway serving the accommodations level. Moving aft here brings you into the large, well appointed master stateroom. There is an abundance of storage with many lockers and hanging closets for clothes. On the forward port side there is a huge, walk in closet, sure to make the Admiral happy with plenty of room for clothes for all occasions! Next to this, in the forward bulkhead, conveniently hidden behind a beautiful wooden door is the stacked washer and dryer. Directly abaft the walk in closet is the door leading into the ensuite master head. This area contains a newer Raritan macerating head, a Corian counter top with single bowl sink, a large, shower with Lexan door and plenty of storage both below and above the vanity. Lastly, there is also a wall mounted holding tank monitor system. A good nights rest is assured on the queen size, centerline berth that is also located mid ship to reduce and motion wile at sea or anchor. There are night tables on each side and storage under the front of this berth. For entertainment there is a Samsung smart TV and temperature is controlled by a dedicated HVAC system.

Moving forward from the master stateroom, on the port side of the companionway brings you to the mid ship cabin. This area contains upper and lower berths, storage under the lower berth and a large closet that can be used for linens or additional storage. What a lot of long distance cruisers will do is remove the mattress from the lower berth and use this area as an easily accessible extension to the ships pantry for extended voyages.

On the opposite or starboard side of the companion way you will find the door to the second head. This head serves as the day head while cruising as well as for the VIP and mid ship cabin. Inside you will find a second, newer Raritan macerating head, an enclosed shower stall and a Corian topped counter containing a single bowl sink.

Directly under the sole of the companion way id a large hatch allowing access to the AC condensing units for this part of the boat as well as a large storage area. You will also notice an absence of any odors in the bilge areas. This is due to the fact that the boat is equipped with a power bilge vent system. Remember, the builder is used to producing very large, semi-custom mega yachts so they think of everything!

Moving forward in the companionway will bring you to the VIP stateroom. There is a large, elevated island queen bed with storage underneath and overhead on both sides. Aft on the port side is a dresser with drawers and opposite on the starboard side is a large hanging locker. There is a small flat screen TV on the dresser for entertainment. There are also two overhead hatches providing abundant light and ventilation. Both hatches are equipped with retractable privacy screens. This area is also served with its own, dedicated HVAC unit.

As we transition to the outside areas of the boat, access to the forward deck is via port and starboard sliding doors in the lower helm area. There are also side decks connecting the aft deck to the bow protected by high, sturdy stainless steel railings. Once on the bow you will notice a set of MarQuipt tide ride stairs, neatly folded and in their own canvas storage and fastened to the deck. Immediately forward from here is a large hatch that opens to reveal the anchor rode storage area as well as additional storage for anchoring items, windlass tools and boat hooks. Ground tackle is provided with a 105LB Mantus anchor connected to 250 feet of 3/8" galvanized chain via a Mantus swivel mount. Anchor deployment and retrieval is made simple with the brand new Muir hydraulic windlass.

About Oaksmith Yachts

We know what it feels like to need to know what's past that next hill. To stare across an ocean and want to see what's out there. To wonder what's in that bay or on that island past that next point. To only have a day or a week to explore what should take months. We know what it's like to not be able to afford to let the weather stop you. We know what it feels like and we have a solution.
