a boat of its length and beam, the single-engine 296 jumps on plane
with noteworthy suddenness. With two engines, the word is 'launch." That
said, the ride here is hushed, soothing, and soft, much like the 296's
interior, with a layout here that is both custom –from throw pillows to
club configuration – and unlike any other bowriders. A space more
limousine than marine. The comfort accumulates astern in all-weather,
personalized luxury straight out of your living room. Wraparound
conversation is waiting in the bow.

Introduced
in 2009, the sleek lines of the Cobalt 296 only hint at the uncommon
luxury found within. From the textured vinyl upholstery to her sporty
woodgrain dash and leather-wrapped steering wheel, the 296 makes a
quality statement few other bowriders can hope to match. Instead of the
usual wraparound seating, the double-wide helm and companion seats in
the 296 have reversible backrests that become aft-facing recliners. (The
optional wet bar behind the captain’s seat eliminates the starboard
recliner.) An enclosed head/change room with sink and PortaPotti is
behind the port glove box, the twin aft sun pads lift for engine access.

Standard features include a walk-thru transom, air compressor, extended
swim platform, thru-stem anchor system, premium sound system, molded-in
gelcoat graphics, bow scuff plate, and trim tabs. Built on a Kevlar
reinforced hull with moderate beam, the Cobalt 296 is available with
several single or twin engine options.
